Behind the Badges is a fascinating look at what lies behind the badges worn on the shirts of all our football league clubs. Kissed after goals scored and clutched in displays of loyalty the much over looked subject on the history of the badges is here now open to all. Even the most simplest of badges has a story behind it and many are the subjects covered, including, Adventure, Folklore, Heraldry, History, Legends, Religion and many more.

Find out what lies behind your badge and the badges of all the teams in the league. Was it the result of a local newspaper competition or perhaps it originates with your clubs nickname? It could even of evolved from your town or city`s Coat of Arms. What do the symbols and images mean? Whether they be animal, mineral or vegetable, Behind the Badges gets behind their origin.

Also covered are clubs formation, grounds, nicknames and rivals. This work began after I discovered what made up my clubs badge, (Southampton) and I then decided to take on the mammoth task of uncovering what lay behind all the other club badges. Please enjoy my findings.
